5The Current Warfighting Challenge
- Broader distribution of forces and capabilities
across complex battlespace creates the need for
greater information and decision-making at lower
echelons of command - Deployed assets are currently unable to take full
advantage of relevant imagery, data, C2, and EA
in a near real time fashion - Line of Sight connectivity is limited by terrain
physical and urban minimizing opportunity for
collaboration or synchronization - With critical information inefficiently and
ineffectively shared, some elements are isolated
and not visible to and therefore not
supportable by other capabilities within the
battlespace - The inability of warfighters to leverage timely
and relevant enabling capabilities air, land,
sea, space reduces tempo and combat
effectiveness
