  • This is our 10th annual Carnival.

When is the Science Carnival?
  • The Science Carnival takes place on
  • Friday, February 25th
  • Set-up time is 430 p.m.
  • Student Exhibits are displayed
  • 500 until 700 p.m.
  • Special science performance will start at
  • 715 after cleanup of exhibits.

What is a Science Carnival?
  • It is a fun-filled science event which
  • includes
  • Interactive exhibits (Interactivities)
  • designed by students.
  • Free raffles
  • Professional Science
  • presentations by cool scientists

Who can participate???
  • Participants must be students who
  • attend Troy Middle School!
  • That meansall of you may participate!

What should the exhibit include?
  • A card table
  • A 3-sided backboard
  • An interactivity activity that
  • Can be repeated at least 100-150 times.
  • Must take only a short time to do.
  • Supplies for the activity
  • Clean-up supplies if needed.

What do I do to participate?
  • Find two other friends from any
  • grade or team who attend
  • Troy Middle School.
  • Find friends
  • who share in your enthusiasm, desire to
    participate, and interest in a particular topic.
  • who are willing to share in expenses, work,
    supplies, responsibility, etc.
  • Fill out the appropriate forms and return to your
    teacher by the due date.
  • Prepare your exhibit.
  • Present your exhibit at the Science Carnival.

What is an Interactive Exhibit?
  • It is an activity
  • that allows your audience the opportunity to
    perform it themselves.
  • Illustrates a scientific concept.
  • Wows the audience.
  • Gives you pride in the work you did to prepare
    for the carnival.

  • Look for Science Carnival links

What should be on my backboard?
  • Your 3-sided
  • backboard should include
  • A catchy title to catch the attention of
    visitors.
  • A description of interactivity
  • An explanation of the science concept
  • Addition related information
  • Lots of color and design.
  • Computer-generated or precut lettering.
  • Pictures

Why should I participate?
  • Show my work to my family, friends, and
    community.
  • Work with friends.
  • Show extra effort in science.
  • Have fun!
  • Earn extra credit.

So I want to participatewhat do I need to

  • Find two students who you feel have
  • the same work ethic and interest as
  • you have.
  • Make a commitment to participate.
  • Get forms from your science teacher.
  • Get parent permission and check your
  • calendar for conflicts.
  • Browse science experiment books in the
  • library, your classroom, TV, book stores,
    etc.
  • Check out school website for Science
    Carnival links.
  • Return forms by due date.
  • Purchase your backboard (Teachers have order
    forms).
  • Prepare your backboard, exhibit, and
    presentation.
  • Invite your family and relatives and neighbors.
  • ATTEND and present your interactivity.

  • Right NOW Form your team
  • Teams are made up of 3 students from
  • any grade level or team.
  • Turn in permission forms to your science teacher.
  • By February 1st--
  • Find an interactivity on which you all agree.
  • Turn in a team report to your science teacher.
  • In February,
  • Gather your materials
  • Buy your backboard
  • Week before the Carnival
  • Get all materials needed
  • Design your backboard
  • Practice your Presentation

You have a 3 day weekend right before the
Carnival!
