Qualitative data collection methods

• Interviews with Community Leaders
• 5 community leaders from each community are
  interviewed to contextualize the experiences of
  community members, and to get an insight into
  collective issues and experiences
• Careful selection procedure in collaboration with
  research advisors
• Semi-structured questionnaire
• Trained interviewers
• Focus Group Discussions
• 16 focus group discussions per selected community
• Discussions within groups of same gender and life
  stage (youth, adults, and parents)
• 6-8 participants for each discussion
• Facilitators recruited from within case study
  communities so as to optimize group communication
  and maximize trust.
