What Is It?

• A Way of writing huge numbers more simply.

Process

• Numbers must be between 1 and 10.
• Example 1.1 x 103 not 11 x 102

Process (contd)

• The exponent tells how many times you move the
  decimal. If the little number (Exponent) is
  positive, you move it to the right. If negative,
  to the left.
• Example 1.1 x 103 1100 1100
• Example 21.1 x 10-3 0011 .0011
