Title: Genesis 1-3
1Walk Through the Bible
Genesis 1
2Introduction
3God selected certain men called prophets to write
down His words.
4He chose 40 different men who wrote different
parts of the Bible.
5The time between the first prophets writing and
the last prophets writing was about 1600 years
(1500 BC - 100 AD).
6All but one of these men were Hebrews, and they
wrote down Gods words in their own languages
Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
7Even though it was written by 40 different men,
the Bible is consistent.
82 Timothy 316 - All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness
92 Peter 121 - For the prophecy came not in old
time by the will of man but holy men of God
spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
10The Bible is a big book containing 66 smaller
books, with 2 major divisions
11The Old Testament - 39 books
12The New Testament - 27 books
13The Bible is like a library of books rather than
a single novel.
14There are different types of writing in the
Bible for instance, poetry, history, and letter.
The style of the book makes a difference in the
way you read the book.
15Creation
16Verse 1 God is eternal (He was already there)
the world is not eternal.
17God is supreme (above all things) and sovereign.
18God is perfectly intelligent enough to have made
the world.
19God is perfectly powerful enough to have made
everything all at once.
20God is completely independent of everything and
everyone.(He existed without creation before He
made it.)
21Verse 2 God is spirit (invisible, cant be seen).
22God is present everywhere.
23Verse 3 God created the world simply by speaking.
24It began by the power of His Word everything
began this way.
25Verse 1 If you saw a painting in my home, you
would ask me Who made this painting? not What
made this painting?
26In other words, creativity demands personality
God created the world, therefore, He is personal
or has personality.
27Covenants Another name for a covenant is a
testament.
28What is a covenant? Covenant - a strong agreement
between two people wanting to form a
relationship.
29God wanted to form relationship with man. The
being that created all things wanted to know
personally one of the things He created.
30This demonstrates the personal side of God. Even
the divisions of the Bible show that God has
desired relationship from the beginning. Old
Testament/Covenant and the New Testament/Covenant.
