• If materials are not recycled the land will be
  able to hold less and less life.

Abiotic Factors

• Abiotic Factors Elements in the environment
  that are not living and never were.
• Ex. air, water, light, chemical elements
  and compounds, temperature, soil.
• These affect growth, health, reproduction,
  color and structure of organisms.
• Tolerance range conditions that an organism can
  tolerate comfortably.
• Organisms create adaptations to tolerate extreme
  conditions.

Some of the materials that are recycled

• Water
• Energy
• Carbon Dioxide
• Nitrogen

Nitrogen Cycle

• Nitrogen is present naturally as a gas in air.
• Nitrogen fixating bacteria take the gas from the
  atmosphere and turn it into solid.
• Plants obtain this solid nitrogen from the soil
  and use it to make protein
• Animals eat plants and obtain this nitrogen from
  the plants.
• Secondary consumers obtain the nitrogen from
  their prey.
• Animals eliminate nitrogen through wastes.
• Decomposing bacteria release the nitrogen (from
  all organisms) as gas to the air

Carbon Dioxide-Oxygen Cycle

• Plants Use carbon dioxide to produce food and
  release oxygen to the air.
• Animals and plants use oxygen for respiration and
  release carbon dioxide to the air.

Energy cycle

• Energy is taken from the sun by producers to make
  food.
• Primary consumers obtain energy from the
  producers
• Secondary consumers obtain energy from other
  consumers.
