Title: Dailey Starters:
1- Dailey Starters
- You task is to come to class five minutes early
on the day you are assigned and come up with a
good opening starter question, inspiring quote,
Scripture verse, picture that makes you think
etc - The starter that you prepare does not have to
match the lesson of the day, but it would be nice
to have a consistent flow. Many days you will
not know the topic of the day, so you will not be
graded on meeting the theme of the day. - You will be grade on five criteria
- Time Your starter should be at least seven
minutes. This would include time to
read/listen/view and reflective writing. If your
starters goes long please do not be offended if
Mr. Smith cuts you off. If you spend time during
class to set up your starter points will be
reduced.3 Points - Group facilitation You should be prepared to
lead the group in a discussion on whatever you
have brought. Get the class to think about your
material. Ask open ended questions. Subjective
questions is what Mr. Smith is looking for. 3
Points - Prayer Take prayer requests and pray for them
in class. You can structure this anyway you
would like, but Mr. Smith would like each class
to begin in prayer facilitated by you. 3 Points - Scripture Scripture should be included in your
starter. Make sure the scripture verse
incorporates the theme of your starter. It could
even be your starter. 3 Points - Creativity Be creative in your planning and
thought. Dont just do the same thing the
previous person did. 3 Points - 15 points total!
- When we are through with each student we will
begin music review lead by you. - Schedules will be delivered after the second week
of class. - Look at the back for an example of what Mr. Smith
is looking for.
2- Opening Questions
- Take a look at this image and write down at
least three ways this could be interpreted? - What made you interpret this image in the way
that you did? - How could you relate this to leadership?
- How can this be related to Scripture
- Group Facilitation would be a groups discussion
format. If or when you lead group discussions
make sure and ask the question why if necessary.
Its ok if the class is silent. Allow at least
ten seconds before you share your input. After
ten seconds students usually will participate
because they do not like awkward silence.
Scripture Ephesians 420-24 20You, however, did
not come to know Christ that way. 21Surely you
heard of him and were taught in him in accordance
with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were
taught, with regard to your former way of life,
to put off your old self, which is being
corrupted by its deceitful desires 23 to be made
new in the attitude of your minds 24 and to put
on the new self, created to be like God in true
righteousness and holiness. I chose this verse
because I feel that when I look at this image I
feel challenged to combat the world and shed my
skin so that God can make me new again. If you
look at the image you would see that this person
shows signs of struggling. Putting off your old
self is not easy, you will struggle and its
through that struggling you learn and become
wise. Prayer Take prayer-After prayer request
I would like for each persons prayer request to
be prayed for so I want you all to break up into
groups and pray for each others request. Spend
about five minutes in prayer, then we will
continue in our daily lesson.
Have fun with this! If you really want it to be
meaningful talk about something you are or have
struggled with, then you are sure someone will
benefit.
