What is the Community Notification System (CENS)?

• Rapid notification system used to contact the
  public during times of emergency
• Maricopa Region 911 is currently partnered with
  Qwest to provide the service
• CENS uses the 911 database to contact citizens

How did CENS come to be.

• Environmental lawsuit filed by Arizona Department
  of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) against a private
  company.
• A portion of the financial judgment designated to
  a community emergency notification system
• MAG was the successful responders to the ADEQ RFP
  of CENS Program

Components of CENS

• 911 Database
• Voice Message Center
• Web Interface
• Outbound Calling Platform
• Emergency Call Relay Center (ECRC)

Who will use the CENS System?

• Any emergency agency in the Maricopa Region may
  use CENS
• The field units will determine if notifications
  need to be done
• CENS will be activated through the PSAPS or 911
  Centers
• Calls will be made using the 911 database
