Purpose of GUICS
  • GUICS aims to
  • fund pilot research projects
  • encourage research partnerships between Griffith
    researchers and industry
  • lead to applications to the ARC Linkage Projects
    scheme or NHMRC Development Grants.

Purpose of GUICS
  • GUICS Applications must demonstrate
  • Seeding funds are required to develop a pilot
    study
  • Results will be used to inform a high quality ARC
    Linkage or NHMRC Development application
  • Funding will assist to develop collaborative
    partnerships with industry

Funding
  • GUICS Grants
  • Up to 10,000 for any one project
  • Require Industry partner/s to match funding
  • Matching contribution must include a minimum 50
    cash and 50 in-kind contribution
  • In-kind contributions must be consistent with the
    2005 ARC Linkage Projects Funding Rules
  • May not be used for equipment purchases

Application Process
  • Proposals should be prepared in consultation with
    the Faculty Dean, Centre Director or PVC and
    Research Grants Officer (Collaborative) 
  • Assessment is made
  • By a panel of peers (panel a min. 2 peers,
    providing written reviews in line with ARC
    Linkage Project Assessors reports)
  • In consultation with Manager, Research Grants
    Centres Management (MRGCM), Faculty Dean, Centre
    Director or PVC
  • On the basis of the potential of the project to
    lead to a successful ARC Linkage or NHMRC
    Development Grant
  • On the recommendation of MRGCM to the DVC-R
  • DVC-R decides the award

The Application
  • Applications should be a maximum of 3-4 pages and
  • include
  • A brief summary of the collaborative research
    project, detailing
  • Aims and Background
  • Significance and Innovation
  • Budget and budget Justification
  • Timeline and milestones
  • CIs contributions to the field
  • Publications since 2000 inclusive
  • Endorsement of Centre Director, Faculty Dean /or
    PVC

The Application
  • Must be accompanied by a completed and authorised
    Research Grant Coversheet
  • Must include a signed letter of support
  • on company letterhead
  • outlining the cash and in-kind contributions of
    industry
  • a statement that the industry partner intends to
    financially support an application to the ARC
    Linkage Project or NHMRC Development schemes.

  • Applications may be submitted anytime following
    consultation with Jacky Hall (Research Grants
    Officer Collaborative) ext 57406 or
    J.Hall_at_griffith.edu.au
