What is Title I?

• Its the largest federal assistance program
  for our nations schools.
• The program serves millions of children in
  elementary and secondary school.
• Serves schools with 40 or more of children
  from low-income families

What is Title I?

• The federal government provides funding to
  states each year for Title I. To get the
  Title I funds, each state must submit a plan.
• A school committee of administrators,
  teachers, parents and community members
  develop and submit a Title I School
  Improvement Plan, which is revised annually.

• Works to identify students most in need of
  educational help
• Works to set goals for improvement
• Works to measure student progress, using
  standards set forth in the states and
  schools Title I plan.

Your Title I Program needs you to help

• Determine program goals
• Plan and carry out programs
• Evaluate programs such as the Parental
  Involvement Plan
• Work with your child at home and even in school
  as a volunteer.

  Open House)
• Volunteer
• Meet with your childs teacher
• Monitor academic progress (I-Parent, progress
  reports, student work, report cards)
