Title: Week 9
1Week 9
- Modeling continued
- FFD
- Displacement
- Assignments
- Kitchen
- Alley way
- Layered Materials
- Lighting a scene
2FFDs
- Free Form Deformations
- Configurable lattice deformation tool
- Demo
- Try it out
- Create a primitive
- Apply a FFD3x3x3
- Go in to modifier and select controls
- Then move controls point around to deform the
geometry. - Its animatable too
3Displacement Modeling
- Using a bitmap/image to reshape an objects
geometry.
4Displacement Modeling
- Prac time Use the displacement map in the zip
5Alley way exercise
- Create a brick wall and street then extend it to
a small scene of a Melbourne alley way complete
with several examples of graffiti. - Model and texture 2 -3 scene objects to detail
for use in the foreground of your image. - Render One 800x 600 image
6Alley way exercise
Unfinished example indicative scene geometry
density
7Kitchen exercise
- Model and apply appropriate materials and render
a kitchen scene with an array of kitchen objects. - Render One 800x 600 image
8Kitchen exercise
- Scene must be complete with 3-4 bench top objects
9Layered Materials
- Composite materials is one of a couple of ways to
create a multi-layered material in 3dsmax
10- Combining multiple images and materials to make
one final resulting material.
11You can create them in photoshop and embed it
to the file. Or save it out separately to another
bitmap file. The black in the alpha represents
the image data that gets disregarded, the white
is the used portion of the bitmap

20Scene Lighting Tips
Just go over some considerations to lighting a
scene
21Scene Lighting Tips
Start with main light
Then add a Skylight (adds outdoor ambient
lighting)
22Scene Lighting Tips
Then add small bounced lights
Then add some shadows in the shadows for depth
23Scene Lighting Tips
Use photoshop to enhance
