- The lack of availability of management skills is
a major bottleneck in the development of IT
firms. - The educational facilities in some countries are
not able to provide the necessary management
training skills needed for the IT Industry. - There is a major effort worldwide to train IT
business managers, project managers and IT
systems managers. - There is also stiff competition to recruit
experienced managers from around the world - In Canada, federally funded apprenticeship
programs have very high drop-out rates (Canada)

- Some countries are noticing a job drain of their
management professionals as they move to other
countries with more favourable working conditions - The demand for skilled IT professionals exceeds
the supply by approximately 10-30 in some
countries- these trends will continue into 2001

skills is forcing organisations to evaluate their
methods and resource commitments on these
