An Example - Topics from the Current Draft of the
Work Programme
5
How to Participate
6
1. Shape the Draft Work Programme(too late for
this year but we can try for next)
  • Scan through the topic headings in the early
    drafts of the Work Programme
  • If a topic is close to your area of interest but
not exactly on the nail then please send me a
revised form of words for submission to the EC
for possible inclusion in the next draft
  • If a topic is absent then lets discuss it with a
view to having it included in next years work
    programme
  • Please use the EC codes e.g., Topic
    SEC-2007-3.3.3

7
Contribute to the Work Programme
  • Original Work Programme Text
  • Topic SEC-2007-3.3.3 Solutions for ensuring
    end-to-end communication availability, relying on
physical and logical technologies, on diversity
    of hybrid systems
  • Technical content / scope The task is to
develop suitable novel broadband services which
guarantee the required quality of service and
data integrity making use of multimode
    communication solutions (mainly focused in
    wireless/mobile communication with security (end
to end) features for voice, data information and
    access.
  • Revised Work Programme Text
  • Topic SEC-2007-3.3-03 Solutions for ensuring
    disruption-tolerant end-to-end communication
availability, relying on physical and logical
technologies, on diversity of hybrid systems
  • Technical content / scope The task is to
    develop suitable novel communication services
which guarantee the required quality of service
and data integrity making use of multimode
communication solutions, even in the face of
disruptions that may occur due to security
incidents. These will mainly be focused on
    wireless/mobile communication making use, where
    appropriate, of disruption-tolerant networking
    schemes. Solutions should include appropriate
end-to-end and hop-by-hop security features for
    voice, data information and access.

9
3. How to participate
  • Get Inside a Consortium
  • Identify a Topic in the Draft Work Programme that
    hits your sweet spot
  • We can try to identify a credible consortium
coordinator if you have a compelling proposition
  • Be an Initiator
  • Can you prompt the formation of a consortium
    leaving someone else to coordinate?
  • Be a Coordinator
  • Its best to be on top of the food chain
coordinate your own proposal and select your own
partners but its a challenging path

10
