1Turning coins
Year 5
Aim Investigate how many two pence coins can be
turned over in 10 seconds. Objective To have an
opportunity to develop data handling skills by
collecting data and handling it simply.
2Turning coins
Place ten 2 pence coins in a row along the edge
of a table, with approximately a fingers space
between them.
3Turning coins
Work in a group of 2 or 3, one timing the 10
seconds, one recording the number of turns and
one turning.
4Turning coins
Turn the coins over one by one, with only one
hand the writing hand to begin with. Make sure
you go back to the beginning of the row after
turning ten coins, and dont work your way back.
