Providing a Mentally Healthy Environment

• Child development theories tell us it is CRUCIAL
  to provide a consistent, loving, and protective
  environment. Some key elements include
• Self-esteem balanced with an awareness of the
  needs of others
• Practice developing appropriate tools for social
  interaction (getting along)
• Problem-solving skills

• Providing a primary caregiver to watch over the
  health and development of each child provides a
  key trusting relationship which can foster these
  skills, reducing the childs vulnerability and
  increasing his/her resiliency ie. their ability
  to overcome hardship
