Title: CTR182 PROCEDURES

1
C-TR182 PROCEDURES
  • DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEMS
  • PREFLIGHT
  • NORMAL PROCEDURES
  • EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

2
SYSTEMS
  • Turbocharging
  • Retractable Gear

3
Turbocharging
  • Engine exhaust passes through turbine
  • Turbine turns compressor
  • Compressor compresses air entering carburetor
  • Waste gate connected to throttle, bypasses
    exhaust
  • around turbine.
  • Turbine can exceed maximum manifold pressure (31
    Hg)

4
Retractable Landing Gear
Hydraulic System Three hydraulic actuators, one
for each gear strut Operating pressure is 1000 to
1500 psi. Electrical System Hydraulic actuators
powered by electric pump motor Power pack
started and stopped by gear handle and gear
up/down pressure switches. Nose wheel squat
switch Gear-up warning system Mechanical
System Emergency hand pump Main gear down lock
switches
5
Normal Operations Landing Gear
Preflight - Check gear switch down, check
indicator light. After Takeoff Apply brakes
momentarily, retract landing gear. Do not retract
gear until no possibility of aborted landing. Do
not retract gear until well clear of obstacle
(sht field). Before Landing Gear down VLO VLE
140 KIAS Note Going slower decreases
pressure on gear. Check that gear are down green
light, look outside. Normal extension takes about
5 seconds. Place gear down on downwind or outside
FAF (IFR).
6
Landing Gear Warning System
  • Throttle-actuated switch connected to dual
    warning unit
  • Intermittent tone when landing gear not locked
    down and
  • Throttle reduced below 12 in. Hg.
  • Wing flaps extended below 25 degrees

Airspeeds
Gear up

Emergency ProceduresGear wont Retract
NONE ARE UNDERLINED!!
Note Erroneous gear indications can result from
not placing the gear handle firmly in the
detents when raising or lowering.
Landing gear fails to retract Check circuit
breakers (LDG GEAR, GEAR PUMP) Recycle gear
down, get green light, gear up (unless
something doesnt seem right!!) Note If gear
motor operates for a minute, pull GEAR PUMP
circuit breaker. Engage before landing.
9
Emergency ProceduresGear wont Extend
NONE ARE UNDERLINED!!
Landing gear fails to extend First, reduce
airspeed below 100 KIAS, and try again. If
gear wont lower and lock Landing gear handle
DOWN Emer. Hand pump EXTEND, PUMP Pump
until resistance felt (20 cycles) Note If
gear motor operates for a minute, pull GEAR PUMP
circuit breaker. Engage before landing.
10
Emergency Procedures,General Information
  • If gear up/down light doesnt come on, first
    check lights.
  • Wait before recycling the gear, you may have lost
    fluid.
  • Your best chance at fixing a malfunction is the
    first time.
  • Dont be in a hurry climb to altitude, and get
    out POH.
  • Read slowly follow procedures listed.
  • If procedures fail, try negative and positive Gs.

11
Gear-up Landing
What happens when you run out of hydraulic
fluid and the gear are not locked down. Has
occurred when gear down locks had worn. A
gear-up landing with propeller stopped
on horizontal does little damage. Land gently
follow instructions in POH
