Harleen Serai, Supervisor - Brian Lovell
What is the Black Box? In todays rapidly
changing business environment, obtaining
information is simply not enough timing is
critical. It is even more pertinent for companies
with a mobile workforce. The black box is the
first solution in Australia that can provide
prompt information services to and from mobile
staff irrespective of their location. How does
it work? As shown in the figure (right), the
black box uses GPRS to communicate with the
company network and Bluetooth to communicate with
the mobile staff PDAs.
- Scope of Thesis - The Black Box/PDA Bluetooth
Modules - What is achieved?
- Bluetooth access from Microsoft .NET.
- Multiple Bluetooth connections between devices.
- Automatic connection handling as devices come in
and out of range. - Event based transfer of files and strings
between user applications. - How does it work? The figure on the left shows
the architecture of the Module. Bluetooth
communication between devices is achieved through
the L2CAP layer API to allow for multiple
connections. The purpose of the .NET wrapper is
to achieve Bluetooth visibility from .NET. It
also allows multiple user applications to access
the Bluetooth from .NET. - How can it be used? This module can be used by
developers to write custom Bluetooth applications
in .NET for the Black Box and the PDA.
