1Education and social change- the European way
forward

training, education, coaching and consultancy

The EU will invest up to 2010 3 x as much as now
in education To be an ultimate knowledge society
6What does it mean?
E.A.E.A.
- 90 of the budget will be spent for formal
education and vocational training - Only 10 will be spent for non-formal education
- However, this 10 then is also 3x as much as
now..
7E.A.E.A.
Do we have to follow the water fall . Or do we
still have to try to control where the water goes?
8Main priorities of the last years.
- Active citizenship
- Basic skills / key competencies
- Valuing learning
But we need new profiles of learning to
reach the high-sounding ambitions and
perspectives of the Lisbon Strategy
E.A.E.A.
9In the moonlight these priorities seems to
disappear into the concrete objectives of
education and training systems in Europe
E.A.E.A.
10Start qualifications in late modernity
E.A.E.A.
- Traditional basic skills
- Reading
- Writing
- Numerating
- Calculating
- Listening
- Questioning
- New key competences
- Functional literacy
- ICT
- Interactive and open communication
- Functional numeracy
- English as second language
- Media interpretation
11Perpetuum mobile
E.A.E.A.
- The knowledge society needs a more integral
and interactive approach of adults learning and
learning in later life - therefore students have
to learn to learn in schools and colleges
12 Education should not be closed into a new
system.
E.A.E.A.
- But social learning processes have to be
acknowledged and widely implemented - Not only related to work and employment
- But also to voluntary work and social engagement
13- And when the sun arises
- Education should be more concretised in
objectives as - Personal fulfilment and self confidence
(cultural capital) - Active citizenship, participation and social
inclusion (social capital) - Employability and flexibility (human capital)
E.A.E.A.
14Adult education in itself is not innovative
E.A.E.A.
- Adult education only can be innovative if it is
embedded in and engaged with a wide diversity of
groups in society
15E.A.E.A.
When the sea is calm, education can change
social environments slowly and unseen into
a learning
environment
16Preparing for change
E.A.E.A.
- It is not enough to develop skills in using a
range of ICT-applications - You have to be able to cope with the changing
nature of technology itself
17 No false solidarity
with specific and vulnerable targetgroups
E.A.E.A.
- But.
- Facilitating and challenging
- The encounter and dialogue
- Between several social actors
18Senior citizens should be part in it
or they will fight for their part
19AE Strength
E.A.E.A.
- Diversity of partnerships
- Development oriented
- Experienced trainers-consultants
- Multifaced and multidisciplinary teams
20FLY AWAY.
E.A.E.A.
Not to be a prisoner Of your own
infrasstructure But mobile and flexible in
changing networks
