• The thing you have to do if you want to

• First (first semester)
• Complete an interest inventory in class to help
  you secure your topic
• Go with your passion, not something easy!!!!!!!
• Pp. 6-7 in manual

Second

• Secure your Faculty Advisor (teacher/faculty
  member at GHS) (P. 9 in manual)
• You need to do this THIS WEEK!
• Try to get a person from a department that has to
  do with your chosen topic

Third..

• Finalize your topic
• It will have to be one of the following
• 1) Create a video, CD, website, or computer
  program
• 2) Build a product Pp. 24
• 3) Job shadow 24-26 in
• 4) Volunteer work manual
• 5) Teach a class or workshop
• 6) Write/make a book
• 7) Learn a new skill

Fourth.

• Complete your Letter of Intent
• Guidelines and sample in manual (Pp. 10-11 in
  manual)
• Typed and saved to jump drive ( as is EVERYTHING
  you do)

Fifth..

• Complete your Sign of Commitment
• Guidelines in Manual (see p. 12 )
• See samples on board

Sixth..

• Find and secure your Mentor (community person who
  is an expert in your topic area) (P. 8 in manual)
• Okay to go ahead and complete this as soon as you
  finalize your topic
• The sooner you do this, the better
• See me for help with contacts!

Seventh.

• Set up an appointment with your mentor to meet,
  plan, and conduct interview
• Will have to secure/borrow a miniature recorder
  for interview
• Typed and turned in to me
• Pp. 13-15 in manual

Eighth..

• Begin research for Annotated Bibliography and
  research paper
• Lab time in media center, usually 3-4 days
• Pp. 16-18 in manual

Ninth..

• Research paper rough draft
• Most class time will be spent working on the
  paper and how to do MLA style in the paper
• Pp. 19-23 in manual

Tenth..

• Finish and turn in rough draft of research paper
• Anticipate an October due date
• Pp. 19-23 in manual

Eleventh

• Get rough draft of paper back with feedback and
  suggestions for improvement
• Pp. 19-23 in manual

Twelfth..

• Revise and correct rough draft that will become
  your final draft
• Pp. 19-23 in manual

Lastly (for first semester)..

• Begin working on product so you dont have to
  cram it all in during the first part of January
  (Portfolio due in Feb or so)
• Pp. 24-30 in manual

Second semester..

• Product due (Jan/Feb) pp. 24-30
• Portfolio due (Jan/Feb) pp. 31-33
• Classroom presentation(March/April) pp. 34-36
• Board presentation (March/April) pp. 34-36
