• On September 12, 2007, XDL rededicated over 27
  Brothers to the Fraternity with a rededication
  ceremony.

Retain At the conclusion of 2008 fraternal year,
XDL had 28 Brothers on the books, of which 21 of
them were recognized on a National Level. Goal
A minimum of 21 Brothers are retained during the
2008-09 Fraternal Year. Result 100 -- 21
Brothers renewed their membership with XDL
XDL currently have 7 Life Members, which
represents 21 of the chapter membership.

Renew Goal To renew the spirits of XDL
Brothers, in order to motivate them to continue
to do the work of Alpha during the 2008-09
Fraternal Year! Result Accomplished the goal to
renew the spirits of the XDL Brothers as a
result of the following activities that were
accomplished during the fraternal year!

Gamma Chapter

• Brothers of XDL participated in the 2008-09
  Strategic Planning meetings for Gamma Chapter.
• XDL financially supported the Gamma Chapter to
  handle all fees to gain admittance to the
  Chapters Fraternity Room.
• Assisted the Gamma Chapter in the planning of
  hosting the Eastern Region Fall Staff Meeting
  held on the Campus of Virginia Union University.
• Brothers provided support for the Gamma Brothers
  during their 2008 Homecoming plans to include a
  memorial and rededication service for Brothers in
  attendance.
• XDL Brothers participated in the Gamma Chapters
  Annual Martin Luther King March held on the
  Campus of Virginia Union University.
• Brothers of XDL facilitated several Money
  Management Seminars for the students at Virginia
  Union University on the behalf of the Gamma
  Chapter.
• Graduate Advisor attended a weekend retreat in
  Gloucester, VA for the mid-year review and
  planning of the Gamma Chapter Activities.
• XDL Brothers regularly attended Gamma Chapter
  meetings.
• Graduate Advisors participated in the Spring
  Intake Process in support of the Gamma Initiates.
• XDL Brothers participated in a Gs to Gents
  seminar as facilitators.
• Sponsored, participated and volunteered support
  for the Gamma Chapters Annual Ms. Black Gold
  Pageant.
• XDL and Gamma competed for the Charles H. Wesley
  Award at the 2009 VACAPAF Convention.
• Held the XDL Annual Gamma Brothers Senior Dinner
  at the Original Book Binders Restaurant.

Go to High School, Go to College
On a monthly basis, the Brothers of XDL met with
the young men of Brother Gregory Stallings class
at J.L. Francis Elementary School to educate them
about money basics and life skills. Included in
the monthly sessions was a field trip to visit a
local financial institution. This initiative was
co-chaired by Brothers Ditu Kasuyi and Vernon
Rogers.

Voteless People, Hopeless People
The Xi Delta Lambda Chapter was able to aid in
registering 40 people at the 2nd St. Festival.
This was a joint effort of the Area V Chapters
Gamma, Theta Rho, Beta Gamma Lambda and Xi Delta
Lambda. In addition, Brothers volunteered at
various polling sites as supporters and drivers
during election day.

Bone Marrow Drive
The Annual Bone Marrow Drive was held on
Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Wal-Mart
located on the corners of Brook and Parham Roads.
Over 40 people were tested during the activity.
This was in collaboration with the Brothers of
Gamma and the Fall 2008 XDL Initiates!

XDL Step Team
The Xi Delta Lambda Steppers were introduced
during the 2008-09 Fraternal Year under the
direction of Brother George Johnson.   According
to Brother Johnson, he has been studying up on
ol' school steps to aid in the transitioning of
the more seasoned Brothers! Brothers who have an
interest in stepping are asked to send an email
message to either Brother Johnson at
gmjohnson63_at_yahoo.com or Brother Derrick Sydnor
at derrick_syndor_at_yahoo.com .

Project Alpha
XDL in conjunction with the Area V Intake
Initiates and Chapters provided the Project Alpha
seminar to 30 boys between the ages of 10 and 16.
The event took place on Saturday, March 21,
2009 and was held at Linwood Holton Elementary
School. This effort was provided in
partnership with the Richmond Chapter of
Concerned Black Men. Brother Tyler Parker lead
over 30 Brothers and Initiates during this
initiative.

Celebration Of Life Concert

• Xi Delta Lambda held its Annual Celebration of
  Life Concert on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 400 PM
  at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
•  
• Featured Artists were as follows
• Celebration Male Chorus
• Michael K Ross, Composer/Pianist
• Special acknowledgements were extended to
  Ebenezer Baptist Church for its continued support
  of this endeavor.
• Proceeds from the event supported the Weldon H.
  Smith Scholarship Foundation.
• Brother Jim Mason lead this initiative!

March for Babies
Headed by Brother Patrick Sapini, the Xi Delta
Lambda Chapter raised over 1,000 in donations
for the March for Babies. This is the largest
amount ever raised by XDL! Overall, the Area V
Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha raised over 2,000.

XDL Website
XDLs Website has had numerous hits since its
inception. To better serve Brothers, the website
was upgraded throughout the year to include
private access for Brothers to the on-line XDL
Directory. Additional upgrades are scheduled
within the upcoming months. This initiative is
headed by Brother Derrick Peterson.

Miscellaneous Alpha Activities

• XDL held a Strategic Planning Meeting to plan for
  the 2008-09 Fraternal Year.
• Brothers attended the 102nd Anniversary
  Convention of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in
  Kansas City, MO.
• XDL sponsored a joint reception with the other
  Area V Chapters of VACAPAF for the 33rd General
  President Herman Skip Mason, Jr. at 3rd Street
  Bethel AME Church.
• Various officers of XDL attended the Eastern
  Region Fall Staff Meeting held on the Campus of
  Virginia Union University.
• Brothers attended the VACAPAF Strategic Planning,
  Fall and Winter Staff Meetings.
• XDL offered a Fall and Spring Informational
  Session to men who had expressed an interest in
  learning more about the Fraternity. The Fall
  Informational was hosted at the home of Brother
  Kelvin Oliver. The Spring Informational was
  co-hosted with the Brothers of Gamma Chapter on
  the Campus of Virginia Union University.
• XDL and Gamma competed for the Charles H. Wesley
  Award at the 2009 VACAPAF Convention

Miscellaneous Alpha Activities

• Brothers attend the Inaugural activities of the
  33rd General President in Atlanta, GA.
• Provided a Super Bowl Reclamation event that
  was hosted at the home of Leo Ross.
• Co-sponsoring with Beta Gamma Lambda the
  application for the University of Richmond to
  obtain a Charter.
• The Chapter hosted an Annual XDL Holiday Mixer at
  the Baptist General Convention Center.
• XDL Brothers participated in the Annual Founders
  Day Breakfast for Area V where Brother Gregory
  Howard served as the keynote speaker.
• Six (6) XDL Brothers have confirmed registrations
  to attend the 103rd Anniversary Convention in New
  Orleans. Two (2) Gamma Brothers have confirmed
  registrations to attend the National Convention.
  
• XDL is reinstituting its Annual Awards Process

Miscellaneous Community Activities

• Brothers participated in the Linwood Holton
  Elementary Annual 5K event in partnership with
  the Richmond Chapter of Concern Black Men.
• XDL Brothers served as volunteers, participants,
  facilitators and planners for the African
  American Mens Health Forum.
• Brothers willingly volunteered to support the
  100 Black Men Read initiative being held at
  Bellevue Elementary School.
• XDL Brothers served as facilitators for a Money
  Management Seminars supported by the Richmond
  Juvenile Courts and Department of Social
  Services.
• Select Brothers volunteered to participate in the
  Annual Bachelor Auction for the Chesterfield
  Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
• Brothers participated in activities associated
  with the National Pan Hellenic Counsel of
  Metropolitan Richmond (NPHCMR) to include
  monthly meetings, Founders Day Breakfast and
  Scholarship Recognition Reception.
• Brothers are scheduled to attend the Annual
  Picnic for the NPHCMR on Saturday, June 27, 2009
  at Three Lakes Park from 3 7 PM.
