LAC Epics (Windows) IOC

What is the LAC (Windows) IOC used for?

• The SLS Local Access Control system (SLS LAC)
  controls the person admission to the optics and
  experimentation areas of the SLS Beamlines.
• The SLS LAC system based on a PhoenixContact.Inter
  bus OPC server (located at WSLA.7.0.56)
• The SLS LAC system is maintained from the Section
  9310 Steuerungssysteme, (Stefan Staudenmann
  tel. 3737)
• The Epics implementation was done to view the SLS
  LAC status on the Alarm handler and other Epics
  clients.

How the SLS LAC is implemented in Epics

• All SLS LAC information is Read Only from
  Epics.
• A windows XP (PC5150) run a IOC with OPC device
  support.
• The IOC device support is based on Bessy GmbHs
  code.
• The OPC toolkit used at SLS is version 4.01 from
  Softing.com
• The current used epics version is 3.14.6
• The LAC IOC is currently running on the PSI
  office network!
• CVS location is X/LAC

Testing the LAC IOC

• If all LAC PVs are neither disconnected, nor
  invalid, nor not avaiblethe problem does not
  have to do with the LAC IOC. Section 9310 must be
  informed.
• Some existing PVs to test are
• X00GA-GE-LAC99_01 Alive bit and valid between
  06, if a value more then 60, reboote the LAC
  IOC.
• X00GA-GE-LAC01_10 X06SA-OP-LAC01_01 _02
  ..._03
• caget from the office network and if valid from
  the machine network. If they are only visible on
  the office network, the problem may be the
  Channel Access Gateway
• If this PVs have problems on the office network,
  the Windows LAC IOC must be rebooted.

Reboot LAC IOC (PC5150)

• Create a VNC connection to PC5150
• On the office network open browser Adress
  http//pc5150.psi.ch5800/
• only the VNC password must be
  entered.
• On the terminal start-Interbus-local type exit
  to close the IOC.
• Click the start button (button left corner of
  Windows screen) and then select "Shut Down".
• Make shure "Restart" is selectedon "What do you
  want the com-puter to do?"

Re-Login PC5150 (LAC IOC)

• It takes about 2 minutes until the PC is
  rebooted.
• Then VNC login to PC5150 (see prev. Page)
• The Welcome to Windowsscreen apears.
• Because of using VNC,Press Shift-Ctrl-Alt-Del
  to login

Known unsolved LAC IOC problems

• The IOC should be moved from the office network
  to the machine network.
• The LAC IOC should be started as a Windows
  service. - This would prevent the need of login
  after rebooting the PC.
