  area.
• Population density is an average.
• Many people live in cities more densely
  populated.

• Japan is densely populated. The Kantô  and Nôbi
  plains are home to Japan's largest cities- Tokyo
  and Nagoya- and over half of the nation's people.

  land

• Instead of building their cities out, city
  planners have built cities up.
• Allows for more people to live in less space

  effect.
