Title: LIFE WITHOUT GOD
1LIFE WITHOUT GOD
2- Imagine a Life with No Fellowship with God.
3Isaiah 591-2 (NASB)
- 1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not so short that
it cannot save Neither is His ear so dull that
it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have made a
separation between you and your God, and your
sins have hidden His face from you, so that He
does not hear.
4God will not fellowship anyone who practices sin
(Isa. 591-2).
- God who is holy will only fellowship those who
have been forgiven of their sins (Isa. 61-7). - God has provided a way that we can have a
relationship with Him through His Son (2 Cor
521). - Yet, even after being a Christian, a person can
choose to go back into sin and lose his
fellowship with God.
5Hebrews 312-13 (NASB)
- 12 Take care, brethren, lest there should be in
any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in
falling away from the living God. 13 But
encourage one another day after day, as long as
it is still called "Today," lest any one of you
be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
6- Acting religious will not change the hard fact
that the practice of sin causes us to lose our
fellowship with God.
7Acting Religious
- Too often, he denies he has a sin problem that
disrupts his fellowship with God (1 John 18). - Often, it is a favorite sin that he does not want
to give up (Jas 29-12). - He continues to act religious (pray, study,
attend worship, give, etc.). - Yet, there is no fellowship with God, despite all
his efforts to be spiritual.
8Matthew 721 (NASB)
- "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will
enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the
will of My Father who is in heaven.
9- Where is a person in life without God?
He is Lost!
10Ephesians 211-12 (NASB)
- 11 Therefore remember, that formerly you, the
Gentiles in the flesh, who are called
"Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision,"
which is performed in the flesh by human hands
12 remember that you were at that time separate
from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of
Israel, and strangers to the covenants of
promise, having no hope and without God in the
world.
11To Maintain Fellowship with God, Continue to Walk
in the Light.
- Our fellowship with God depends on our commitment
to walk in the light (1 John 15-10).
121 John 15-7 (NASB)
- 5 And this is the message we have heard from Him
and announce to you, that God is light, and in
Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that
we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the
darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth 7
but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in
the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from
all sin.
131 John 18-10 (NASB)
- 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are
deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and
righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we
have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word
is not in us.
14- There is no form of darkness or sin that we can
continue to practice and still have fellowship
with God (1 Thes. 522).
15Ephesians 55-8 (NASB)
- 5 For this you know with certainty, that no
immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is
an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of
Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with
empty words, for because of these things the
wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7 Therefore do not be partakers with them 8 for
you were formerly darkness, but now you are light
in the Lord walk as children of light.
16Ephesians 59-11 (NASB)
- 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all
goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 trying
to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 And do
not participate in the unfruitful deeds of
darkness, but instead even expose them
17- It does not matter which law of God we choose to
violate any sin that we commit will cause us to
become a transgressor (James 29-12).
18James 29-11 (NASB)
- 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing
sin and are convicted by the law as
transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law
and yet stumbles in one point, he has become
guilty of all. 11 For He who said, "Do not commit
adultery," also said, "Do not commit murder." Now
if you do not commit adultery, but do commit
murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
19- Sins of omission, the failure to what is right
and fulfill our duties to God, can also cause us
to become a transgressor (James 417).
20James 417 (NASB)
- Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to
do, and does not do it, to him it is sin.
21Life without God is no Life at All.
- Life without God is to be dead in sin (Eph.
21-2).
22Ephesians 21-2 (NASB)
- 1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
2 in which you formerly walked according to the
course of this world, according to the prince of
the power of the air, of the spirit that is now
working in the sons of disobedience.
23- The sin, which he continues to practice, stands
in the way of a right relationship with God and
thus he is dead spiritually to God.
24Revelation 31-2 (NASB)
- 1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis
write He who has the seven Spirits of God, and
the seven stars, says this 'I know your deeds,
that you have a name that you are alive, but you
are dead. 2'Wake up, and strengthen the things
that remain, which were about to die for I have
not found your deeds completed in the sight of My
God.
25Revelation 33-4 (NASB)
- 3'Remember therefore what you have received and
heard and keep it, and repent. If therefore you
will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and
you will not know at what hour I will come upon
you.
26Life without God is no Life at All.
- Life without God is to be dead in sin (Eph.
21-2). - Life without God means slavery to sin.
- John 834 "Truly, truly, I say to you,
everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
27- When the child of God turns his back on God in
order to practice sin, he has chosen to be
enslaved to sin all over again (2 Pet. 220).
282 Peter 220 (NASB)
- 20 For if after they have escaped the
defilements of the world by the knowledge of the
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again
entangled in them and are overcome, the last
state has become worse for them than the first.
29The Christian cannot have it both ways!
- He cannot maintain fellowship with God and
practice his favorite sins (or any sin) at the
same time. - Everyone makes a choice to what he will be
enslaved (Rom 616-19).
30Romans 616-18 (NASB)
- 16 Do you not know that when you present
yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience,
you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either
of sin resulting in death, or of obedience
resulting in righteousness? 17 But thanks be to
God that though you were slaves of sin, you
became obedient from the heart to that form of
teaching to which you were committed, 18 and
having been freed from sin, you became slaves of
righteousness.
311 Corinthians 612 (NASB)
- All things are lawful for me, but not all things
are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but
I will not be mastered by anything.
32- When the Lord is no longer your one and only
Master, fellowship with
God has ceased and slavery to sin has begun (Jude
4).
33Life without God is no Life at All.
- Life without God is to be dead in sin (Eph.
21-2). - Life without God means slavery to sin.
- Life without God means our worship is vain (e.g.,
Mark 76-9).
34Isaiah 110-12 (NASB)
- 10 Hear the word of the LORD, You rulers of
Sodom Give ear to the instruction of our God,
You people of Gomorrah. 11 "What are your
multiplied sacrifices to Me?" Says the LORD. "I
have had enough of burnt offerings of rams, And
the fat of fed cattle. - And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls,
lambs, or goats. 12 "When you come to appear
before Me, Who requires of you this trampling of
My courts?
35Isaiah 113-15 (NASB)
- 13 "Bring your worthless offerings no longer,
Incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and
sabbath, the calling of assemblies- I cannot
endure iniquity and the solemn assembly. 14 "I
hate your new moon festivals and your appointed
feasts, They have become a burden to Me. I am
weary of bearing them. 15 "So when you spread out
your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from
you, Yes, even though you multiply prayers, I
will not listen. Your hands are covered with
blood.
36What if the Lord did not listen to your prayers!
- 1 Peter 312 (NASB) "For the eyes of the Lord
are upon the righteous, And His ears attend to
their prayer, But the face of the Lord is against
those who do evil."
37Psalm 3414-19 (NASB)
- 14 Depart from evil, and do good Seek peace,
and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are toward
the righteous, And His ears are open to their
cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against
evildoers, To cut off the memory of them from the
earth. 17 The righteous cry and the LORD hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, And saves
those who are crushed in spirit. - 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
38Life without God is no Life at All.
- Life without God is to be dead in sin.
- Life without God means slavery to sin.
- Life without God means our worship is vain.
- Life without God means an unfulfilled life.
39In the grand scheme of things
- The person who lives life without God is a life
that is empty, unfulfilled, without true meaning
or significance.
40Ecclessiastes 1213 (KJV)
- Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter
Fear God, and keep his commandments for this is
the whole duty of man.
41Ephesians 210 (NASB)
- For we are His workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand, that we should walk in them.
42- In the end,
people who lived life without God will have
wasted their lives, having
lived life not for God, but for
themselves (Luke 1219-21).
43Luke 1219-21 (NASB)
- 19'And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have
many goods laid up for many years to come take
your ease, eat, drink and be merry."' 20 "But God
said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul
is required of you and now who will own what you
have prepared?' 21 "So is the man who lays up
treasure for himself, and is not rich toward
God."
44Life without God is no Life at All.
- Life without God is to be dead in sin.
- Life without God means slavery to sin.
- Life without God means our worship is vain.
- Life without God means an unfulfilled life.
- Life without God means no peace.
45Isaiah 5720-21 (NASB)
- 20 But the wicked are like the tossing sea, For
it cannot be quiet, And its waters toss up refuse
and mud. 21 "There is no peace," says my God,
"for the wicked."
46- Many, who have no fellowship with God,
have a hard
time with quiet contemplation of their life
in view of eternity (Ps. 44).
47Psalm 44 (NASB)
- Tremble, and do not sin Meditate in your heart
upon your bed, and be still.
48Hebrews 927 (NASB)
- And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die
once and after this comes judgment.
49Dont Trade Your Fellowship with God for the
Practice of Sin.
- There is no pleasure on earth worth more than
your fellowship with God (Heb. 1124-26). - There is no worldly achievement more valuable
than your relationship to God (Mat. 1624-26). - Fellowship with God in Heaven or Eternal
separation depends on our obedience to the gospel.
502 Thessalonians 16-9 (NASB)
- 6 For after all it is only just for God to repay
with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to
give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as
well when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, 8
dealing out retribution to those who do not know
God and to those who do not obey the gospel of
our Lord Jesus. 9 And these will pay the penalty
of eternal destruction, away from the presence of
the Lord and from the glory of His power,
512 Thessalonians 110-12 (NASB)
- 10 when He comes to be glorified in His saints
on that day, and to be marveled at among all who
have believed for our testimony to you was
believed. 11 To this end also we pray for you
always that our God may count you worthy of your
calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness
and the work of faith with power 12 in order
that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified
in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of
our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
