COURSE REQUIREMENTS
  • Three essay tests each worth 80 points
  • One final essay test worth 80 points
  • Drop the lowest test grade of the four tests
    above
  • Each Friday a ten point objective quiz-count the
    highest 8 grades-cannot make up
  • Lecture portion counts 80 of final grade

3
LABORATORY
  • Lab counts 20 of final grade
  • Daily attendance worth 10 points-variable
    depending upon participation.
  • A lab exercise may be given requiring out of
class work that will be due the next lab period.
  • Work turned in late will be graded with 70
    maximum grade awarded.

4
CALCULATION OF FINAL GRADE
  • Add 3 highest lecture tests and 8 highest quiz
grades. Divide total by 320. This gives you the
for lecture. Multiply this by .8 to give the
    lecture portion of grade.
  • Add all daily lab grades plus homework grades and
divide by total points possible. This gives the
for lab. Multiply by .2 to give lab portion of
    grade.

5
GRADE CALCULATION CONTINUED
  • Add the weighted lecture to the weighted lab
figures. This gives the combined for the
    course.
  • Compare this figure to 90A, 80B, 70C,
60D and less than 60F. That is your
    guaranteed grade.
  • If the class arrays itself into natural breaks
then a less than the guarantee MAY receive the
    higher grade.

6
ATTENDANCE POLICY
  • Two assumptions are made by the instructor.
  • The students are responsible adults and should be
    treated as such.
  • The students primary objective for his/her
college career is to learn and to get an
    education.
  • Therefore absence from class will not be
    tolerated except for extreme reasons..
