Todays Situation
  • Model Flying in existence for almost 100 years
  • Over 1Million model flyers in the EU Countries
  • Excellent Safety record in both Controlled and
    Class G airspace
  • Well proven flight envelopes
  • Comprehensive Members Handbooks

Todays Situation continued
  • Many model flyers operate within formally
    constituted clubs
  • Excellent test procedures developed for larger
    model aircraft - over 20Kgs
  • Frequency band allocated for the control of model
aircraft, 35Mhz band now harmonized in EU States

    procedures
  • Attain its own frequency allocations
  • Cause minimal disruption to established
    procedures and current airspace users

7
8
The Major Problem
  • Developing
  • a robust Sense and Avoid System
  • that will be accepted as equivalent or better
  • than See and Avoid
