• This case study will
• Introduce research, and existing specialist data
  resources, on occupations, educational
  qualifications and ethnicity
• Describe an e-Science approach to handling and
  distributing such data resources
• We will described the GEODE project
  (www.geode.stir.ac,uk, on occupational data) and
  its generalisation to other fields (known as
  GEDE which is incorporated within the DAMES
  reseach Node (www.dames.org.uk).
• Why is this interesting?
• We argue that data on occupations, educational
  qualifications and ethnicity contribute to key
  variables in the social sciences, but that
  researchers dont always make good use of these
  data
