Data indicators
  • We used refocus referral data for aggressions.
    This data was compared with last years data and
    used to track our progress toward our school
    improvement behavior goal.

Trend and Changes
BEAR RIVER MENTAL HEALTH- is involved with
Woodruff as part of funding received to provide
outreach services in school. SERVICES Assessment
provided to family as well as recommendation for
services which may include Wrap-around
services, individual, group, and/or family
therapy, skills development, and case management
or referral to outside services for families
with sufficient resources. Progress is measured
using the Youth Outcome Questionnaire. There
have been 31 referrals this year. 14 qualified
for wraparound services and were referred to
BRMH. 12 students have been involved in group
services for aggression. 3 students have been
referred to outside community agency for therapy
based upon family resources. The Youth
Outcome Questionnaire is a tool used to measure
client distress and functioning. Scores
indicate overall symptom distress and appropriate
level of care. Indicators/colors are also
provided in regards to progress direction. The
following charts have scores for a male student
age 7 in the 2nd grade. He was seen
individually 7 times. He made progress with an
indication of reliable change. 9 other students
receiving services have had reliable positive
change as well.

continues and is causing someone harm, then you
need to tell a trusted adult. If it involves
physical aggression or threats tell an adult
right away.

Most Recent Data
  • We sat down as a school UBI team at the end of
    last year, and had a total of 157 aggressions for
    06-07. We knew that the most important thing we
    wanted to focus on was decreasing this number in
    the upcoming year.
  • There were several things put into place to be
    proactive in keeping our goal of 90 aggressions
    or less for the 07-08 school year. We also at
    the time of setting a goal did not take into
    account how different our population would look
    this year.
  • Even with the change, we were still able as a
    school to reach our goal! It took everyone
    working together to make it happen. Positive
    rewards for students with no aggressions, and
    consistent consequences for those who were
    aggressive.
  • We only have about a month and a half left and
    are at 67 total aggressions!!

General Discussion
  • We have seen great benefits from having the
    health Department and Bear River Mental Health
    Dept. involved in helping make extra contact with
    specific children who are aggressive or bullying
    others. Having someone actually give the
    students scenarios in which choices would have to
    made and watch the students interact in
    situations where they have struggled in the past
    made a great impact.
  • School wide we are still on track to meet our
    goal of keeping under a certain number of
    aggressions.
  • One thing we didnt take into account when
    setting our goal of decreasing aggressions from
    last years numbers was our changing population.
    We saw significant growth and also the addition
    of a full day kindergarten that brought many
    students into one class, many of them lacking the
    skills to make good choices when they become
    angry.
