Chester Carlson

• Nearsighted had arthritis, worked on better way
  to do his job as patent analyzer for electrical
  component maker (worked in home kitchen).
• Years of this research led to a patent in 1942
  for this process, called electric photography.
• However, Carlson's fight wasn't over. It took him
  another 20 years to find a business interested in
  his technology. He approached companies like IBM,
  GE and RCA, but was turned away.
• The world potential market for copy machines is
  5000 at most (IBM 1959)
• Inventor of copy machine (Haloid Co later Xerox)
