12Visual Merchandising
- The Visual Merchandising class focused on
the different types of visual displays utilized
in the fashion industry. In addition, while in
groups of two, we were required to complete three
window displays throughout the semester. Each
window was required to follow one of three
themes an environmental window, a product
window, and a cause or foundation window. -

Preliminary Drawing
Actual Display Window
The cause or foundation window my partner and I
created was for the Starbucks foundation, which
supports Ethos water and Habitat for Humanity.
Before completing the window, we were required to
sketch our idea out by hand or using a CAD
program. The preliminary drawing was created
using Adobe Illustrator.
14Fashion Merchandising
The Fashion Merchandising class focused on the
fashion cycle, trend forecasting, and the
production and distribution of merchandise. In
class we learned how to create trend boards based
on style, color, silhouette, or season. The big
class project was the trend forecasting project.
In groups of three, we selected a season, style,
and year. We were required to make at least 20
slides which supported our trends.

16Fashion Advertising and Promotion
- The Fashion Advertising and
Promotions class focused on the different
psychological and sociological factors that are
considered when creating advertisements. In class
we learned about the different types of
advertising used and how consumers reacted to
them. - While in class, in teams of two, we were
given a semester long project to create a brand.
The project required my partner and I to choose a
product , determine target market and create a
brand. In addition, we created a brand name,
logo, promotional material and signage. -
17Fashion Advertising and PromotionTerami Chic
Brand Project
My partner and I decided to create boxes as
opposed to dust bags to protect the handbags
during storage.
The brand we created was a luxury handbag
collection called Terami Chic. The advertisement
was created using an image from Americas Next
Top Model and Adobe Photoshop. At the top of our
advertisement is the brands tagline. The target
market for the brand was young professionals
between the ages of 20 and 35. The concept was
being professional does not mean being dull
therefore the bags would be bright and trendy.
18Textile Analysis
- The Textile Analysis class was broken into
two sections, lecture and lab. In the lecture, we
focused on learning about fibers, yarn, and
fabric structure. The textile analysis lab
focused on testing fabric and lining performance
attributes. Using the results from various
testing methods, my partner and I were able to
determine a proper end-use for our fabric.

20Fashion Buying
The Fashion Buying class focused on retail
mathematics. The major project during the
semester was creating the 6-month plan, which
would demonstrate my understanding of the
concepts we learned throughout the semester. The
project consisted of two parts the 6 month plan
with the actual figures for our department and a
memo to our teacher explaining our figures.

22Apparel Design Analysis
In the Apparel Design Analysis class we focused
on learning about the different aspects of the
design process. One of the bigger projects
required me to created a style pattern notebook.
The style pattern notebook allowed me to learn
about the different design elements used when
creating a garment.
