4All things are not equal
- Everything that defines a thorough education
kindergarten, books, transportation, buildings,
extracurricular, etc. - Costs of providing programs continues to
increase. Multiple students with multiple needs
across all grade levels. Patrons voiced desire
for increased programming. - State support has not kept pace with cost
increases - Levy required

6Different Levy Types
- School Plant Facilities Levy
- Pays for facility related issues heating,
construction, repairs - Pays for purchase of busses
- Can only be used for those items/projects
identified by the board - Can be run for 1-10 years
- Potlatch has historically run theirs for three to
five years - Based on assessed property values
7Paying for facilities and repairs before
- Most repairs and maintenance were paid for from
the plant facilities levy - Ongoing maintenance came from the general fund.
- District was able to decide how and when to spend
money based on the need
8Paying for facilities and repairs now
- House Bill 743 I.C. 1019 (2005)
- Requires districts to set aside 2 of replacement
value of buildings - This equals 130,000 in Potlatch that must be
used on facilities. Cannot be used on textbooks,
