Title: HAMDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS 20062007
1 Attention Parents! OUR STUDENTS NEED YOUR
HELP!
2The Mayors recommended budget
- Reduces the Board of Educations 2009-2010
adopted budget by 4,069,051 - Is approximately 1,300,000 less than the Board
of Educations entire 2008-2009 operating budget.
This includes approximately 800,000 in stimulus
funds.
3- This stimulus money can only be used in Title I
Schools (5 elementary) for specific purposes,
such as, summer school, tutoring and
instructional supplies. IT CAN NOT BE USED - TO SAVE JOBS AND NOT TO DECREASE CLASS SIZES.
- Therefore, the mayors budget without stimulus is
- actually 2.1 million lower than the Board of
- Educations entire 2008-09 operating budget.
4If these reductions occur, the effects to
Hamden Public Schools will be DRASTIC !
5It may result in
- Teacher layoffs (at least 27 teachers)
- resulting in larger class sizes.
- This represents approximately
- 5 of the teaching staff.
