  • Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas, like other cancers, are
    diseases of the bodys cells.6

appear annually in the United States.8
  • It has increased by 40 in the past ten years in
    England and Wales.4
  • Malignant Lymphomas are two to three more common
in males than that of females and occur in all
    age groups.5
  • The reason for the increase is unknown, although
it has been attributed to AIDS.9
  • Burkitts Lymphoma is most common disorder in
    Uganda2

4
Signs and Symptoms for Non-Hodgkin's Disease
  • According to Malignant Lymphomas4
  • Swelling of the lymph nodes
  • Fatigue, unexplained fever, sweats
  • Enlarged Tonsils and adenoids
  • Unexplained weight-loss in the past six
    months

  • T-Cells3
  • Liver3
  • Spleen7
  • Large B-Cells8
  • Null Cells2
  • The Chromosome 82
  • Pelvis Area1
  • Abdomen1

6
Types of tests for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
  • -Bone Marrow Tests2
  • -Biopsy of Lymph Nodes2
  • -Chest X-Rays2
  • -Spleen Scan2
  • -Complete Blood Test7

7
Stages of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
  • According to Stage Explanation6
  • Stage 1
  • -Cancer is found in only one Lymph Node area or
in one node of an organ.
  • Stage 2
  • -Cancer is found in two or more lymph nodes
or on the same side of the diaphragm.
  • Stage 3
  • -Cancer is found in lymph node area or on
    both sides of the diaphragm.
  • Stage 4
  • -Cancer has spread to one or more organs
    outside the Lymph system.

8
Prognosis
  • Can be cured.1
  • It is not infectious.2
  • If less than 10 of skin is infected there is a
good chance of it being completely cured.4
  • If more than 10 is skin is infected or spread to
lymph nodes or organs there is an unlikely chance
    of being cured.4

9
Prognosis Cont
  • Eat a balanced Diet2
  • Try to eat fresh foods4
  • Get plenty of Rest10
  • Have annual check-up with doctor6

10
Prevalence
  • According to CancerBacup10
  • Seventh most common cause of death from cancer
  • Average age of onset 42 years old
  • The incidence of lymphomas (NHL) is increasing
    each year
  • Some of the increased incidence is from HIV
    patients.
  • More common in males (8.1/100,000) in females
    5.7/100,000)
  • Great variation by country (Rural Poland
    1/100,000 non-Jews in Israel 9.1/100,000)

Prevalence in Races8
12
Treatments For NHL
  • Radiation Therapy1
