- What can CDA offer its members?
- Membership of CDA provides the opportunity for
companies to define and participate in market
development activities in the UK. The aim is to
grow/defend markets rather than the market share
of individual members. Members can benefit from - Steering of/participation in market development

- Who is eligible for membership?
- Membership of the Association is open to
companies - mining, smelting, producing or refining copper
- manufacturing, fabricating or distributing copper
- otherwise connected with or interested in copper
and/or copper-containing materials. - Three groups of members are recognised for
membership fee purposes - smelters/refiners
- semi-fabricators
- other industrial companies

- Refiner / Smelter
- Given the nature of the sales coverage,
membership in this category is anticipated only
at European level. - Fee covers all national promotion and
communications activities, all European
environment and health and regulatory affairs
activities and makes a contribution to the
running costs of the CDA. Work in kind
contributions will be expected in promotion
projects. - Production is defined as output at European Group
level (West, Central and East). Allocation of
fees to business units or operating affiliates is
the responsibility of the Member Company.
Production multiplier will be the average of the
last three known calendar years, e.g. for 2005 it
will be (2001 2002 2003)/3.

- Semi-fabricator
- Fee covers all national promotion and
communications activities, all European and
national environment and health and regulatory
affairs activities and makes a contribution to
the running costs of the CDA. Work in kind
contributions will be expected in promotion
projects. - Production is defined as output of
semi-fabricated copper and copper alloys
(excluding wire rod and wire and cable products).
The consolidation of group tonnages, to avoid
double counting, and allocation of fees to
business units or operating subsidiaries are the
responsibility of the Member Company. Production
multiplier will be the average of the last three
known calendar years, e.g. for 2005 it will be
(2001 2002 2003)/3.

- Other Industrial Companies
- Fee covers all European and local environment
health, regulatory affairs and communications
activities and makes a contribution to the
running costs of the CDA. In addition,
membership allows the company to participate,
either by cash co-funding or by work in kind, in
any promotion project of that CDA. - Fee linked to annual turnover (T), in millions of
, of the relevant copper business unit. - A special fee is required for the European
Voluntary Risk Assessment activity.
