• Found in almost natural, free-growing plant,
  tree, and bush which are located near meadows,
  forests, and plants all over the world

Cellulosic Ethanol

• Another name is lingocellulosic ethanol, which is
  a type of bio-fuel produced from lingocellulose,
  which is a structural material that is composed
  of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin.

Methods of Producing Cellulosic Ethanol

• Celluloytic method
• A hydrolysis followed by fermentation
  of the generated free sugars
• Gasification
• which produces synthesis gas that can
  be converted to ethanol by fermentation

Advantages of producing Cellulosic Ethanol

• Alternative fuel source
• This type of ethanol reduces green house gas
  emissions 90 and reduces 80 of the global
  warming pollution compared to gasoline
• Also releases less sulfur, carbon monoxide,
  particulates, and green house gasses
• Better Yield

More Advantages...

• Not used as a food source
• wouldnt be taking away from any living things
  food source
• able to use the entire plant, no waste involved
• Free ourselves from dependence on foreign oil
• Renewable resource, as long as we are able to
  grow we are able to produce this ethanol

Disadvantages...

• Takes 2-3 years for it to reach a full yield
• Is expensive to get the enzymes that are needed
  to breakdown cellulose
• The enzymes used to destroy plant cell
  wall tissue cost 30-50 cents per gal of
  ethanol compared to 3 cents per gal for corn
