Title: Open Writing Afternoon

1
Open Writing Afternoon Many thanks to everyone
for your overwhelming support for our Open
Writing activity on WednesdaY afternoon. We do
hope you found it enjoyable and informative.
Some parents requested an ideas leaflet which we
are currently working on and will send out as
soon as possible.
A PLEA FOR HELP.. We are planning to start a
stock take of the reading scheme books that are
used by our children which will involve
cataloguing, checking for wear and tear and
correct banding for the books. We would love to
hear from any parents who would be able to give
some time to tackling this activity. It could
easily be split between a group of parents at a
time and day to suit you either as a one off or
on a regular basis. If you are able to help then
please drop a note with your availability to the
school office. Whilst it may appear to be a
daunting job many hands make light work! All
offers of help would be greatly appreciated.
PARKING ON ROYAL ROAD The safety of our children
continues to be a huge concern to us especially
the way some parents are parking on Royal Road.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK
on Royal Rd if at all possible. Morrisons
car park offers an ideal place to park and we
have their agreement that you can park there to
drop off. If you do have to park on Royal Road,
you should not park either on the yellow lines or
the safety bumps. Please note that the Community
Police do patrol regularly. PLEASE THINK
CAREFULLY ESPECIALLY ABOUT 3 POINT TURNS
THERE COULD BE A CHILD BEHIND YOU!
COULD WE PLEASE ASK . It has been brought to
our attention that some of our parents are
engaging their children in conversation through
the wire mesh fence that runs along Woodstock
Road South during lunchtime. Whilst we can
appreciate that parents may think whats the
harm it does actually contravene the Child
Protection Act as other children may think it is
OK to talk to (unknown) adults in the same way.
We are only thinking of the safety of your
children and hope that you will understand and
refrain from talking to them at this time. Many
thanks

CONSULTATION ON EARLY YEARS ADMISSIONS Along with
this newsletter please find a copy of an
information sheet from Hertfordshire County
Council regarding a Consultation on Early Years
Admission arrangements for 2009-2010 which they
are running. We would appreciate as many parents
as possible completing this consultation as many
of you will have first hand knowledge of a one
term entry admissions. The website address
is www.hertsdirect.org/csfconsultations Many
thanks.
CANINE FRIENDS We are sorry to come back to
this issue, and we really appreciate that
everyone kindly complied with our earlier request
not to tether up their dogs on school premises,
but we have been asked by several concerned
parents if owners could be more considerate of
the location they choose ie, not near the
entrances into and out of school. It is as much
for the safety of the animals as an accidental
foot or wheel across the tail of an animal
because the gap is too small would probably hurt!
