OREGON TRAIL MISSION STATEMENT
  • The Oregon Trail Jr. High School Community will
provide a safe, positive learning environment,
leading students to fulfill their individual
potential and empowering them to become
    responsible, productive members of society.

4
WHY DO WE DO TEAMING?
  • Teaming creates a learning environment that
    models collaboration, support and caring.
Teachers have continuous interactions with a
single group of students, which allows them to
better know and understand the students, so they
may respond more effectively to their academic
and personal needs. Teaming also offers a
greater capacity for involving parents in their
    childrens educational experience.
  • We believe teaming is one of the best educational
    practices that facilitates curriculum integration
and supports students as they go through the many
    challenges of adolescence.

5
Classroom Expectations and Procedures for
the7th Grade Blue Team
  • 1. Treat all classmates, teachers, and
    property with respect.
  • Once you come to class, plan to stay. Restroom
privileges are not to be abused.
  • You are to come to class every day with books,
    pens, pencils, paper, assignments, calculator,
    and planner.

6
Assignments are expected to be turned in at the
beginning of the hour on the due date. They
will be accepted the next day for 50 credit.
Projects and reports will be accepted up to five
days late, dropping a letter grade. Two OOPS
passes per class will be given first quarter.
One OOPS pass per class will be given each
quarter thereafter. These may be accepted for
daily assignments only. IF YOU WILL BE ABSENT
FROM CLASS ON A SCHOOL-SPONSORED FUNCTION (BAND,
CHOIR, CLASS OR CLUB FIELD TRIPS, ETC.), YOU
MUST HAND IN HOMEWORK THAT IS DUE THAT DAY,
BEFORE YOU LEAVE AND GET ANY ASSIGNMENTS YOU
WILL MISS. Situations may occur where teacher
discretion is used for this policy.
  • Copying another students assignment is
    considered cheating.
  • See student handbook.

7
  • Correct headings must be on all assignments
handed in. First and last name and hour must be
on all papers. Assignments without a name may be
claimed, however, this may result in a lower
    grade.
  • 7. Students must be seated quietly with pencils
sharpened, materials ready and homework finished
    when the bell rings.

8
  • It is the students responsibility to refer to
    the assignment calendar
  • or crate for missing assignments after returning
from an absence. Do not expect the teacher to
come to you. The district policy is that a
student has two days for every excused absence to
make up missed work. Absent work will not be
accepted without a make-up form. If a test is
missed, it must be made up after school or during
    seminar time.
  • 9. All detentions will begin promptly at 305.
  • 10. There will be no grooming done in class. If
a comb, brush or make-up is out and or in use
during class time, it is subject to being taken
    away and not returned.
  • 11. Discrete gum chewing will be allowed. This
privilege may be revoked. No food or drink is
allowed unless provided by or approved by teacher.

9
  • It is not acceptable to read or write notes to
other students at any time during the class
    period or activity.
  • Misbehavior when there is a substitute will
    result in a 60-minute detention.
  • There are no extra credit assignments for
individual students, but there will be
opportunities to earn extra credit for everyone
    in the class.
  • This is not a complete list of procedures. More
may be given if/when needed. You are expected to
follow all other school policies. It is
recommended that you keep a copy of this in your
notebook. If any of these or other school
policies are broken or a student disrupts the
rest of the class, appropriate measures will be
taken. REMEMBER YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR
    BEHAVIOR.

10
GRADING
  • Grades will be based upon assignments, tests,
    quizzes, class participation, following
directions, special projects and reports. In
    addition, teachers will occasionally offer

  • Others learning is less likely to be disrupted.
  • Treats child with dignity. Emotions on the part
of the teacher are less likely to surface with
    this type of program.

13
PACE(Planned Academic Curriculum Enhancement)
  • This program is a voluntary program designed to
assist students who are experiencing difficulty
in required course work but who do not qualify
for any special program. Individual tutoring is
provided and attention is given to developing
personal study skills. PACE is not merely a
study hall in which to complete homework.
Referrals to the program can be made by teachers,
counselors, and parents. Students may refer
themselves. Final enrollment is by special
    approval.
  • This is not designed to take electives away but
to give students another way for support here at
    school.
  • There will be a Math PACE class and a Reading
    PACE class.
