Although initially sceptical regarding the
claims made for this unit, I agreed to an
extended listening trial to hear for myself
whether it would make any difference in a
professional monitoring environment. Contrary to
my expectations, I observed major improvements in
the listening experience once the Richard Gray
device was up and running. Material sounded much
more open and less restricted. Bass was richer,
deeper and more solid. Transient response was
noticeably faster. The speakers came alive
without ever sounding harsh or overworked and
gained a '3D'-ness that made recordings more
involving. The improvements in the width and
depth of image were phenomenal, while the centre
of the stereo image appeared more focused and
forward. This unit increased my monitoring
enjoyment out of all proportion to its cost. I
would recommend it to anyone interested in
extracting the maximum performance from their
playback equipment ... certainly before spending
serious money in new kit. I was sorry to see it
go, and so were my colleagues, except the guy
who had to lift it!
