• Update driver/rollback driver.
• Verify resource settings on manually configured
  devices.
• Hardware troubleshooters.

• Windows XP retains one previous version of each
  updated driver.
• Roll Back Driver restores the previously
  installed driver version.
• Roll Back Driver cannot restore drivers earlier
  than the previous version.

• Device drivers approved by WHQL are digitally
  signed.
• Windows XP can be configured to not install
  unsigned drivers.

CONFIGURING MULTIPROCESSOR SUPPORT

• Windows XP configures multiprocessor support
  automatically.
• Do not attempt to manually configure the hardware
  abstraction layer (HAL).

• Press F5 to choose an alternative HAL press F7
  to force a non-ACPI HAL.
• Do not change the HAL after installation.
