• Apart from the Common Induction Standards and
  NVQs there is no clear definition of what
  knowledge is required
• National Minimum Standards and GSCC Codes mention
  the need for employers to provide training,
  development, specialist information and advice
• Little clear understanding of how much is enough
  with great variation across the country

• Knowledge (and Skills) Sets are learning outcomes
  for specific areas of work within adult social
  care
• They are designed help employers to improve
  consistency in the underpinning knowledge learnt
  by the adult social care workforce

• Knowledge (and Skills) Sets provide employers
  with a minimum and consistent definition of what
  employees should know in key areas of work
• They fit alongside the Common Induction Standards
  and the Health and Social Care NVQs in achieving
  quality through the most cost effective, flexible
  and relevant ways.

• KSS provide guidance for special and
  contextualised learning
