Must apply to School of Nursing to be admitted
into a Nursing Program
  • Students must apply separately, online, to the
School of Nursing, via the School of Nursing Web
    Site
  • For entry in Fall, apply in the previous Oct-Nov.
  • For entry in Spring, apply in previous August

Admission to the University as a Pre-Nursing
student does not guarantee admission into an
actual Nursing Program
14
Pre-Nursing Core
CSU Pre-Nursing Core The following Pre-Nursing
Core has been adopted by all CSU Nursing
Programs.  GPA requirements for the Pre-Nursing
Core vary for each of our Cal State San Marcos
Nursing programs, but all require completion of
the Core courses, or equivalents, prior to entry
into any of our Nursing programs. Students must
complete all these Pre-Nursing Core courses, or
their equivalents, with a grade of C or better
(including separate science labs).  Courses (or
labs) with substandard grades (C- or below) can
be repeated only once.
15
Generic/Basic BSN
  • This program is extremely impacted, meaning that
there are more applicants than spaces available
  • As a result, this program uses Supplemental
Admission Criteria (a Point System) in
determining who gets admitted. All applicants
are rank-ordered according to how many points
    they earn.
  • We can admit 40-44 students each admit period
(currently only in the fall term), although we
may receive additional State funding for Spring
    admits.
