Title: Crisis Management Plan

1
Crisis Management Plan
2
Important Things to Remember
  • Listen to announcement over the PA system.
  • Every second counts during a crisis, so take all
lock downs, evacuations and weather drills
    seriously.
  • Listen to the directions that your teacher gives
    you.

3
Emergency Lock Down
  • Students and teachers will hear the following
    message over the PA
  • Teachers, we are going into emergency lock down.
Teachers, we are going into emergency lock down.
Teachers we are going into emergency lock down.
  • Please check the hallways outside your
classrooms. If there are any students in the
hallway, bring them in your classroom. Close and
lock your door until further notice. Turn off
the lights in your room and move students away
    from the door.

4
Emergency Lock Down
  • At this point, teachers will go out into the
hallway and bring in any student(s) that are in
the hall into their rooms. Teachers will then
turn their classroom lights off and tell students
to go to the back of the room, AWAY from the
    doors.
  • In a lock down situation the teacher will tell
his/her students something to the effect
  • Students, I dont know what our crisis is at
this time, but it is serious. I need for you to
stay calm, quiet and wait for further
    instructions.

5
Emergency Lock Down
  • Students will be expected to stay off their cell
phones and other electronic devices. Students
will not be dismissed (even if the bell rings)
until an announcement has been made by an
administrator indicating the lock down is over.
DOORS SHOULD NOT BE OPENED TO ANYONE!!!!!

6
Emergency Lock Down
  • Once the crisis has been identified and secured,
someone will come over the PA and give further
    instructions.

7
Weather/Tornado Plan
  • Teachers and students will hear the following
    message over the PA system
  • There has been a weather alert that requires us
to implement our weather/tornado plan. Teachers
that are in rooms that have windows must take
their students into the hallway, away from the
windows. Teachers that are out in the portables
and in the gyms must bring their students into
    the main building.

8
Weather/Tornado Plan
  • Once students are away from window and in a safe
place, the teacher will then instruct students to
DUCK AND COVER. This means that students are to
kneel down and face an interior wall away from
glass. Students are then to duck their heads,
and with clasped hands, cover their heads. If
possible, have students use a textbook to shield
their heads from any dangerous objects.

9
Weather/Tornado Plan
  • Portables All portable rooms will enter the
doors that lead to the tennis courts. Students
will then have to be escorted to the area by the
    theater (future band room).
  • GYMS Any students out in the GYM areas must be
brought into the building through the south east
doors. Have students duck and cover facing the
walls in the east hall, away from windows.

10
Weather/Tornado Plan
  • Auditorium Escort individuals toward the
theater area (future band area) and the west hall
    way.
  • Cafeteria Escort individuals to the south,
east, and west hallways. Depending on space,
some students may need to be escorted upstairs to
    the second floor.
  • Library Escort individuals into the west
    hallway.
