experience directing state public health and
environmental laboratories in Idaho, Oregon and

Retired Dr. Ronald Laessig Dr. Laessig had
directed the Wisconsin State Laboratory of
Hygiene since 1980

- Tim Monson and staff of WSLH Bacteriology/PFGE
Laboratory were awarded the PulseStar award by
CDC.

- The award recognized WSLHs work on the
- Nationwide E. coli O157H7 in spinach outbreak in
which our staff was the first in the nation to
identify the bacterial strain that sickened
hundreds and caused 3 deaths - Nationwide Salmonella in peanut butter outbreak
in the Fall of 2006 and early 2007 - Large Campylobacter in cheese curds outbreak in
northern Wisconsin in the Summer of 2006
