3Introduction
- Marketing and legal principles are two very
important aspects of any profession. - The subject is taught from an engineering
perspective and aims at introducing students of
computer science and engineering to marketing and
legal principles. - Practicing scientists and engineers must be aware
of the impact of marketing and legal aspects on
their business and field of practice. - ELE 31MEL is a core subject for 3rd year students
of Department of Computer Science Computer
Engineering. - ELE 41EMT is a core subject for 4th year students
of Department of Electronic Engineering (this
subject forms part of ELE 41EMT).
4Objectives
- After the successful completion of this subject,
the student shall be able to - define and communicate requirements for marketing
and legal services to professionals in these
fields. - interact with professionals in the field of
marketing and legal principles. - Know when to ask for the assistance and services

- Introduce marketing as a force in society and
business. - Show that marketing is an exchange process that
is carried out in both not-for-profit and
business dealings. - This exchange process is performed by
organisations as well as individuals - students are introduced to the difference between
consumer and organisational marketing
