  • Purposes
  • Improve identification processes over time and
    improve rates of identification
  • Provide mechanism for schools and LAs to monitor
    provision available for identified pupils and
    shape towards needs (including use of new
    resources provided as part of personalisation)
  • Enable schools to compare progress and
    performance of GT pupils compared to similar
    schools and identify areas for further
    investigation
  • Provide dynamic data to inform schools own GT
    analysis through comparisons with others
  • Data available to SIPs and Headteachers (and
    Governors) for their strategic planning
    discussions

  • Where does the Register come from?
  • Data from Secondary Census (First inputs made Jan
    2006)
  • Data from Primary Census (First inputs made from
    Jan 2007)
  • Data updated termly from 2007
  • Register includes all pupils identified as GT
    within the school and within NAGTY
  • GT flag enables data to be matched against any
    data held on the National Pupil Database
  • Possibility of linking to other datasets in the
    future (MidYis, Yellis, CATS) etc

  • What Outputs Can/Will Register Produce?
  • Analysis of school data sets compared to schools
    in similar circumstances (as per Fischer Family
    Trust schools/LAs data)
  • Analysis of identification outputs within and
    across different categories (ethnicity,
    socio-economic, FSM, disability, attainment) by
    school, by school type, by LA
  • Enable identification of pupils with similar
    attainment characteristics who are not identified
    in some schools but are in others (through
    comparison with National Pupil Database)
  • Over time it will be possible to analyse relative
    rates of progress for pupil groups

  • Feedback from LAs group will be fed back to
    project team
  • Planning for and implementation of Schools User
    Group (based on LAs suggestions)
  • First data analysis from Secondary Census 2006
    (and NAGTY equivalent) to be made available
  • Analysis of Primary Census data to be undertaken
    and made available
  • Discussions with other data producers to begin
  • Detailed project specification for 2007/08 to be
    completed and disseminated by end of March 2007
