Subject Outline
  • This subject provides an introduction to the
    design and management of web-based systems.
    Specific emphasis is placed on the design of
    usable, scalable, standards-based systems. Taking
    a human-centered systems design approach students
    develop their understanding of the theory and
    practical skills required to effectively design
    and deliver web information content to different
    kinds of users in a variety of formats. Content
    creation, management, evaluation and workflow are
    addressed with particular emphasis on the
    end-to-end design enterprise e-commerce
    initiatives (UTS IT Handbook)

Subject Objectives
  • Able to take a holistic approach to Enterprise
    Content Design and Management (ECM) that takes
    into account design, use and organizational
    requirements.
  • Understand the impact of Web Content Design
    methods on workflow and work practices.
  • Familiar with the range of methods for design and
    development of web content and be able to apply
    appropriate methods to different design
    situations and produce usable web content.
  • Familiar with Current Developments in Web
    Standards for ECM.

Assessment Guidelines
  • All the assessment modules are to be cleared with
    50 pass mark, except for the Exam, where the
    pass mark is 40 to pass the Subject. If any
    component has less than 50 mark the student will
    fail the subject with the mark of 44 Z.
  • Assignments are due at 1300 pm on the DAY and
    DATE. Please follow the following
    guidelinesHard Copy Submit to the Faculty
    Office Building 10, level 3, where you will be
    given a receiptSoft Copy Submit to the
    Lecturer by email
  • A late penalty of 5 per day will be applied to
    submitted work, up to 1 week, and ZERO mark
    thereafter unless prior arrangements have been
    made with the Subject Coordinator.
