Principle 1

    opportunity to benefit must not be unreasonably
    restricted
  • People in poverty must not be excluded from the
    opportunity to benefit and
  • Any private benefits must be incidental

Public Benefit revised timetable
  • 16 January 2008 general public benefit guidance
    published
  • January/February 2008 start of 3 month
    consultations on supplementary guidance
  • Late March 2008 expected date for public
    benefit provisions in Act to come into force
  • Late March 2009 charities will begin reporting
    on public benefit as part of their annual reports
