3STAR Comments regarding Schedule for Remainder of
Run
- In general, it is always a good idea to put
Physics running ahead of commissioning in any
plan. - Humidity control is not good in the STAR IR
- As one gets later into the Summer, the
probability of encountering condensation
problems, and hence not being able to run the
Detector systems, increases. - The magnet can run at higher Dew point
temperatures than the Detector (70 F as opposed
to 63 F). - Given the above, from the Experiment standpoint,
it makes more sense to run the 62 GeV period
prior to the 500 GeV commissioning.
