For example, if I want to know how many Asians
are in each state, but I have the data based on
city. It will combine all the cities in each
state together and then add the number of Asians
to get a total per state
Count identifies the number of records combined
i.e. how many cities were listed for each
state Sum is well, the sum

Getting tables into ArcMap

• Create table using a tool in ArcToolbox
• Tables are easier in Personal geodatabases
• Define the table in ArcCatalog then open and
  populate in ArcMap
• Import table from other program
