Title: My Teaching Philosophy

1
My Teaching Philosophy
  • Amanda Shankles

2
My Philosophy
  • All students learn differently and my classroom
will be organized in a way that will reach the
needs of all the students learning abilities.

3
Different Theories
  • Behaviorial Theory
  • Students learn in response to stimuli (rewards or
    punishments)
  • Changes in behavior are evidence of learning
  • By using this theory in my classroom, I will be
able to encourage students that need to be
    encouraged by rewards.

4
Different Theories
  • Cognitive Theory
  • Learning is acquiring knowledge
  • Puts an importance on reading and imagination
  • Social learning
  • This theory is important to have in the
classroom as well because it encourages the
student to take in as much knowledge as possible
so that they may later on explain what they know
    (input and output)

5
Different Theories
  • Constructivist Theory
  • Students learn from experience
  • Truth is a perspective
  • Learning occurs through assimilation and/or
    accommodation
  • This theory will be used in my classroom
because it encourages the students to think
    outside of the box.
  • It also helps students to build on top of what
    they already know.

6
My Philosophy
  • VARK study Multimodal
  • I am able to learn in different ways
  • Students should be able to be taught the way that
    they best learn
  • As a teacher, I should meet them where they learn
    best.
  • The VARK study has helped me as a teacher
develop my teaching theory. If I am able to learn
in different ways, I should be able to teach
students in different ways and should not have
one set way of teaching every student.

7
  • Students learn in many different ways, and we as
teachers should be able to recognize how each
individual student learns. Meet the child where
they are so that they may learn the all that is
    available for them.
