My Overall Philosophy
  • Im plan on becoming an elementary school
teacher. I would like to teach first or second
    grade.
  • The elementary classroom should foster the
creativity of the students in all areas while
focusing on their weaknesses (in order to
strengthen them) and encourage growth in areas
they already excel in. Due to this, when they
leave your classroom, they will be have strength
    in all areas of study.

3
Who?
  • My philosophy could apply to any classroom,
however I am specifically focusing on first or
    second grade.
  • This age group is extremely open to knowledge and
    learning.
  • They still have no inhibitions and allow their
    creativity to soar.

4
What to study Why to study it
  • First or second grade students should study a
    range of subjects.
  • In my classroom, we would study the standard
    subjects (English, Mathematics, Science, and
History) appropriate to their level. However, I
would also add aspects of other subjects into my
lessons. It is important to include art, and
music to the classroom and to use as much
    creativity in lessons as possible.

5
Where ?
  • Every subject should not be taught at a desk. If
you are teaching about trees, you should take
your students outside to the playground to look
    at the subject first hand.
  • Even if a subject must be taught in the
classroom, there are many ways to add creativity
to the lesson. Teachers should always stand in
front of a class when teaching and never sit
behind the desk to teach. By standing in front of
the class, the students will be more actively
involved in the lesson and pay better attention.
  • The teacher could also dress up as a character
from history to make a lesson more lively. You
could bring in visuals of a subject as well.
These are just a few examples of how creativity
will be incorporated into my classroom.

6
When and How subjects should be studied
  • Subjects should be studied in accordance with the
age of the students and in sequential order. They
should also follow the state requirements for
    that grade.
  • The subjects should be studied in relation to one
another. When studying history for example, you
can incorporate English by having the students
write a story from a historical perspective. You
could also have they draw a picture,
incorporating art into the lesson. There are many
ways in which to make the subjects relate to one
    another.
  • This allows the students to tie everything
    together.
